Freedom to Live:  Dignity in the World of Special Needs featuring Rachel Simon will be held Sunday, October 14, 2012, at the Zembo Shrine, 2801 North 3rd Street, Harrisburg. 

Rachel Simon is the award-winning author of six books and a nationally-recognized public speaker on issues related to diversity and disability. Her titles include the bestsellers, The Story of Beautiful Girl and Riding the Bus With My Sister. Both books are frequent selections of book clubs and school reading programs around the country. Rachel's work has been adapted for theater, NPR, the Lifetime Channel, and Hallmark Hall of Fame, whose adaptation of Riding the Bus With My Sister starred Rosie O' Donnell and Andie McDowell, and was directed by Anjelica Huston.

 

Evening events including the following:

5:00:      Sponsor Dinner

6:00:      Doors open for a $5,000 cash prize raffle and chance auction

6:30:      Rachel Simon presentation

7:45:      Book signing and dessert reception

 

The event will benefit senior services, counseling, adoption, financial assistance, and other services that JFS provides.  Proceeds are also being shared with Keystone Human Services’ Jewish Group Home to build the Four Seasons Room.  For more information, click here>.
