Governor Corbett Signs Repeal of Sprinkler Mandate

On April 25, 2011, Governor Tom Corbett signed his first bill, which repeals the fire sprinkler requirement for most new homes that went into effect on January 1, 2011.  The repeal is retroactive to January 1st.

The law repeals the requirement that all newly constructed one- and two-family homes in Pennsylvania have a fire sprinkler system installed.  Builders will still be required to offer homebuyers the option of installing a sprinkler system.
